It can help just to talk to someone who has been there
I can offer a bit of empathy and some practical advice. My husband can offer insights for partners and family too.
We are not qualified therapists, we offer a human ear and do not represent any organisation.
I KNOW I NEED HELP BUT I DON'T WANT
TO BOTHER ANYONE
People say that all the time about ringing the Samaritans. They don't want to bother them. You are exactly the kind of person who needs to talk. Just try and get in touch with me or someone else if you can
I FEEL I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO ANYONE
I FEEL LIKE I CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT
That's fine. Just email.
I WANT TO STAY ANONYMOUS
I'M WORRIED YOU MIGHT KNOW ME
Make up a new yahoo email, use a fake name,
I speak to a good few people people and I regard confidentiality highly. Knowing personal information about somebody is a privileged position to be in and I do not abuse it.
CAN I SPEAK IN PERSON
Yes. Email and we can arrange Skype or a meet up in person.
I THINK I JUST WANT HELP FINDING OUT
WHERE TO GO
I am happy to talk you through the info on my Getting Help page step by step.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO PARTNERS AND FAMILIES
It is worrying and sometimes frightening to support someone with mental illness. Many struggle and battle in silence, denial, stigma, disgrace and shame ... or bewilderment or anger.
There are very good official support systems for carers and families which we can talk to you about as well.
We will completely respect your privacy and offer total confidentiality.
I WILL HAPPILY WORK TOGETHER WITH ANY GP, MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL,
CRISIS TEAM OR THERAPIST
